Tablet and Smart phone - the future of cameras

Tablet and smart phones are taking over as the preferred choice for holiday cameras.
As seen in the Queen Victoria building, Sydney, taken near the animated clock.

Alan, I checked out the clock today and I was wrong about it being a tv monitor. It is a mechanical animation behind a glass window. Its a very good one too!.

Hi Alan, thanks for your comment. I was surprised to see the monitors in the clock as well as I was sure it was a mechanical animation in the past, however my wife thinks it was a real model so I need to visit it again to find out for sure.

I side with Olympus on this one; "If you’re camera also sends text messages, that will explain why your photos are rubbish." For me phone and tablet cameras are quantity over quality. I'll use the garbage-that-passes-for-a-camera in my phone if it's a "must take" shot and I have nothing else to work with. But you see people spending so much time glued to their screens (as here), shooting everything in sight that they never really take in what's going on around them (which you have to when you work a real camera, if only to get a feel for the light). I'll bet that vast quantities of these shots are streamed straight to Facebook or Instagram and never looked at again, except by their 17th cousin Gladys and then for only 2.5 seconds before flicking onto the next one.
But I must admit that I was unaware that they'd put in a monitor for the animation; it's been a while since I've been up there and will have to go take a look-see.

Very well seen and captured, Barry. I hope these things don't totally replace real cameras! V.

I hear e reader trends are returning to hardcopy, especially trendy for teens to be seen with a book...what goes around comes around :))
