He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister and brother-in-law, Glenna, and Larry Knox; and his brother, Virgil Sutton.

Ronald "Ron" Gene Sutton was born March 22, 1942, in Hartford City, Indiana to Clifford "Pete" and Mildred (Banter) Sutton. Growing up in Indiana, Ron was a 1960 graduate from Hartford City High School. Soon after high school, Ron started his 35-year career with 3M in Indiana where he predominantly worked as an engineer. During the time of the Vietnam war, Ron proudly served his country with the U.S. Army from 1966-1968 where he was stationed in Fort Carson, Colorado. After his time in the service, he went back to work for 3M. Ron was united in marriage to Susan Stoner on April 6, 1963, in Petroleum, Indiana. This union blessed the couple with their son Doug, whom together they raised in Indiana before eventually moving the family to New Ulm, Minnesota in 1982. While helping to raise and support his family in New Ulm, he and his wife followed their son Doug's German band, Musikiverein 88 as their biggest fans and supporters. Ron continued his dedicated career with 3M in New Ulm, and took full advantage of their ICS education program where he attained education in electrical, chemical, and mechanical engineering. In his retirement to socialize with friends and locals, Ron worked as a volunteer driver for Heartland Express in New Ulm. Ron was also a 54-year member of the Hartford City, Indiana American Legion. Besides his work, Ron was an avid outdoorsman his entire life. He loved the peace and tranquility of fishing on area lakes, mushroom hunting in the valleys, and simply watching the birds in his own back yard. Ron will forever be remembered for his pleasant and always calm demeanor. May these memories, and the countless others forever stay in the hearts and minds of all who knew and loved him. Blessed be his memory.

In lieu of flowers, would prefer donations made to the American Cancer Society in Ron's name.
