We travelled by train from Munich to Salzburg, having left almost half our luggage at the hotel in Munich to where we would return in two weeks. Enjoyed beautiful scenery from the train - high, rugged snow capped mountains, small pretty towns with tall church steeples, fields a patchwork of every shade of green.

This was a tempting preview of what was to come in Salzburg, with its amazing city centre of baroque squares, churches, towers of white, gold and blue, decorative low rise buildings, elegant narrow cobbled streets containg tempting shops and hung with ornate iron signs. Salzburg lays claim to Mozart. We visited his birthplace and one of the houses in which he lived, now a Mozart museum.
