Where old trams live in happy retirement! Wattle Park, a country escape in suburban Melbourne. Opened in 1917, natural bush of eucalypts and many varieties of wattles, native birds and seasonal wildflowers spread over 55 acres. Our choice of pleasure on the Labour Day weekend.
Situated at the end of a suburban tramline, Wattle Park was very popular 100 years ago for family picnics "in the country" when few cars were owned and driven.
