Butcher Bird at the bird-bath
These birds have the prettiest song and play around the garden BUT I know their name is appropriate because they do chase and catch small birds as well as lizards, beetles and caterpillars. All part of the natural food chain out there I suppose - like owls, which I love.
"Butcherbirds are large songbirds, being between 30 and 40 cm (12–16 in) in length. Their colour ranges from black-and-white to mostly black with added grey plumage, depending on the species. They have a large, straight bill with a distinctive hook at the end which is used to skewer prey."- Wikipedia
