Burra, in South Australia, is an ideal base from which to explore the Clare Valley, which, like the neighboring Barossa Valley, is noted for gentle rolling farmlands, many vineyards and wineries and historic sandstone buildings.

Burra has survived as one of Australia's most significant historic towns dating from the country's first mining era, which took place in South Australia between 1841 and 1851. The town has a magnificent collection of historic buildings and copper producing mine sites, historically populated by Cornish miners.
