Bruges

A beautiful World Heritage city retaining much of its Middle Ages history and appearance - tall old houses lining cobbled streets, picturesque canals, 17th century Flemish and Gothic architecture, decorative spires of the numerous beautiful churches, towers, museums and quaint shops and cafes.

Walking was a must but one needed to watch for bicycles which wove everywhere and for the pretty pony carts clopping through the main tourist areas. A boat ride on the canals gave a different perspective. The early mornings were blissfully quiet and the canals had a mirror like stillness. Read my blog.
