Bicycles. bicycles, bicycles! Classic restaurants and trendy cafes and bars. Elegant streetscapes of early 19th century buildings. Parks, gardens and lakes.

We walked everywhere, although buses and trams are convenient. A boat tour is recommended and we boarded at Nyhaven, the historic and iconic canal with vintage boats and colourful 17th century houses. We were fortunate to be staying in a hotel near Fredericksborggade, an interesting area within easy walking distance to all main sights and with a new and exciting covered food market, "Torvehallen", with food bars and specialty stores. We enjoyed great coffee and Danish pastries each morning and ate at a good Tapas Bar one evening.

Fine eating is a pleasure in Copenhagen with much choice of excellent restaurants. Window shopping, if not buying, is fun with Danish and Nordic design seen in many quality stores. Copenhagen's main street, Straedet, has design and fashion stores and is a popular place for strolling, window-shopping and buying.

For those who like gardens and water, the Botanic Gardens and several large lakes are a delightful refuge.
