Tape up your Balisong

Taping up your Balisong.
There is a limit on how much you can tape up your Balisong for 'preservation's sake until you completely mummify the goddamn thing, but here's a nice tip for those who like to carry their BM balis unlatched for EASY ACTION.

Chuck Gollnick, the 'Balisong collector' has lots of cool tips on how to prevent damage to your blade and handles from latch damage (that is, from the latch hitting your blade OUCH! and outer surface of the handles during manipulation OUCH! and considering the insane prices a new secondary market BENCHMADE balisong goes for nowadays, you can't blame a '-songer' for not being a little overzealous. For more info on how you can preserve your precious BM bali check out The BALISONG COLLECTOR's tips on taping for preservation instructional. I have spent years banging up my beloved BM 48, and thougt the whole taping up thing was all nonesense. (being an old school comic collector who used to bag and board comics I thought the concept a waste of time now that I don't collect anymore, but after I F*CKED up my BM 48 (TEARS!! CRY CRY!) I have been left in a truma, and now am guilty of being an overzealous taper/mummifier of any other BM I carry.

See ARTICLE 7 for my trauma story. WARNING: Article 7 contains DISTURBING pictures.

Being a person who always fantasied about saving the world, I usually carry my BM unlatched. Read ARTICLE 5 for more details. This facilitates the 'Quickdraw' action hand reflex which I find ultimately cool.

As you can see, the latch is in constant contact witht he 'arch' on the handles, this cantilever beam model causes bending moments, and causes CRACKS to appear on yrou latch. (which I noticed too late, but would like to warn you surfers about it.)
What to do.. like any crazy screwed up in the head fanatical good boy and girl, you ADD MORE TAPE.

Ofcourse the safest way to carry your balisong is to Tape the whole thing completely with tape, but I won't make an instructional for that.
