U.S. Route 66

U.S. Route 66 (US 66 or Route 66), in its hay day was better known as the 'Will Rogers Highway' and colloquially known as the 'Main Street of America' or 'The Mother Road'

A drive through Oatman, Seligman, Kingman, Williams, Winslow, Holbrook, Hackberry & Truxton, Arizona and Amboy and Needles, CA. And you really do have to 'search' for the remains of the original 'Route 66'; it's been removed from modern maps, sliced, diced, torn up and replaced by Hwy 40 in many sections. Fortunately, there are websites with maps, history, even turn-by-turn directions that will aid in this.

I keep telling myself I need to go on a road trip to NM and AZ and do this kind of thing and never seem to get around to it. Man, does this ever inspire me to get there and do it. I enjoyed your photographic tour of Route 66 so much I had to go revisit my shots from a trip along 66 back in 2007.My images from back then aren't all that good but the memories are.I would love to drive the entire route....it's on my bucket list.

Mark, many thanks for bringing back memories. I am the same age as you. I went across the Mother Road in 1950, 52 and 56th. We didn't even know what an Interstate was. I make comments on some of the images. Fantastic job.
