Beautiful image! I like this one better than version II. Here the focus is better on the tree and its forms. The darker and more contrasty sky in v. II reduces the focus and the harmonic mood.

A beautiful image to remind us of what the Salton Sea was. It's sad that it is disappearing! That lone leafless tree certainly does tell a story of dying and death. But it's a gorgeous image!
