Red Bellied Woodpecker

view map

Not one of my best shots - but this beautiful woodpecker lives in a tree by my
driveway and visits our feeder several times during the day. We watched his babies
fly for the first time late summer last year - it was really exciting but didn't
have a camera with me when they took flight!

Fabulous work! Nothing wrong with this shot. You are very lucky to have these birds nesting around your area. Up here, they are very rare and do not nest. V
