Dark Eyed Junco

A Dark Eyes Junco - we have lots of them
when it snows. They are really cute little feathered creatures!

You can tell when its winter in Nashville, when there is white cold stuff on the ground and the dark-eyed juncos show up!! Very nice capture Ann V

Ann, This is definitely a slate gray version of a Black-Eyed Junco. This is sometimes called a "snow bird" since they only appear in the winter.

Cute little thing, all puffed up. Nice shot of it on that diagonal branch.

Looks like a slate junco. I have "the Backyard Bird Lover's Field Guide on my desk and was one page away from a picture of this bird! What a coincidence! I've seen a few of them on my deck, but very rarely. Somehow snow and juncos seem to go together.
