A variety on the original Marching Soldiers.
Thanks to Olli Ilmanen at Trekearth.com for showing me this method to process an image (with this one as an example).
------------------------------
Young soldiers marching in the morning. In the background you can see the Winter Palace (Hermitage). This was shot on the Vasilevsky Island, at the rostral columns (Birzhevaya Ploschad).
Unfortunately this morning the weather was bad and the light very dim. The cool thing of the resulting slow shutterspeed (I didn't open up my aperture on purpose) is the action blur of the walking soldiers.
Already early in the morning there are soldiers and marine cadets marching around the city. Especially on the Peter & Paul Fortress side of the Neva river. The marine cadets get up very early and can be found near the Aurora (Nakhimov naval academy and at the back of the Petersburg Hotel.
