The tramway rises 3,700 vertical feet(1,130 meters) from a base of 4,450 feet(1,350 meters) at the south end of Wallow Lake to 8,150 feet(2,485 meters) at the top of Mt Howard in the Wallowa Mountains of eastern Oregon. The tramway travels 1.83 horizontal miles(3 kilometers) and takes about 15 minutes. At the top there is a summit restaurant and 2.5 miles(4 kilometers) of hiking trails.
