During the winter months the California Brown Pelican (Pelecanus occidentals californicus) dons its colorful mating plumage.
From the cliffs around La Jolla you can spot them soaring, preening and doing spectacular head throws.

Also, can't help catching the seals as they bark and clamber over the rocks.
