Dr. Sandra McDonald developed these hybrids beginning in the mid-1970s at the former Le-Mac Nurseries in Hampton VA, and is still working on a few. They are generally hardy to 5°F ('Mademoiselle Yvette was developed as a florist forcing azalea, hardy to 20°F). Most of the pictures of her hybrids in the alphabetic galleries were taken by Dr. McDonald.
