...and the TIME was 10 past 10. (said with a KIWI accent)... Aussies will laugh at this cos they
think we say "ten" funny. -)

The New Zealand accent is distinguished from the Australian one
by the presence of "clipped" vowels, slightly resembling
South African English. Phonetically, these are raised
or centralised versions of the short "i" and "e" vowels.

that is why I sometimes think that I hear South African English but then being told that they are from New Zealand
