Yuma Territorial Prison (Click pic for more pictures)
I hit the road by 6:30 a.m. and exited at Yuma to get some gasoline and visit the Yuma Territorial Prison. I was the first person at the Yuma Territorial Prison visitor center at 8:00 a.m. and the only visitor during the entire 30-40 minutes I toured the museum, watched a video that was contained the history of the Yuma prison, and walked the cell house and other structures.
Leaving the prison I saw a sign pointing to the Yuma Historic District and Arizona Visitor Information. The historic district is being revitalized with a lot of new commercial buildings amongst the older buildings. I did not se the Visitor Information place so I left and crossed into California at 9:00 a.m. A few miles later the Interstate passed through the Imperial Sand dunes.
