15. Salinas Pueblo National Monument, New Mexico

The Headquarters for Salinas Pueblo National Monument is in the town of Mountainair.

The HQ contains a small museum and exhibits providing an overview of the three pueblo sites. Radiating out in three separate directions from Mountainair are three pueblos (Abo, Quarai, and Gran Quivira) that are part of Salinas Pueblo National Monument. I arrived at the Salinas Pueblo Headquarters at exactly 8:00 a.m. Each pueblo has a contact station/visitor center. The general layout of the pueblos is similar, with the remains of a church surrounded by the Indian village.
