Guadalupe Mountain National Park – McKittrick Canyon
The Ranger at Guadalupe National Park inform visitors that there is not much to see by car as the paved roads only intrude a short distance into the park. The best way to see the park is to hike in. I wanted to hike into McKittrick Canyon and see the Fall foliage. I hiked about half a mile and just started to enter the canyon. I would have to hike in much further into the canyon get out of the desert type vegetation. No time for that kind of exertion of this trip. I turned back and headed to the main Headquarters Visitor Center
The Main Headquarters Visitor Center has largest diorama of plants and animals I have seen so far on all my trips. Anza Borrego Desert State Park has something similar but about a third of the size.
