It had always been planned to build a deck at the front of the house.
When we got down to details, we found that steel was the best material for the structure.
The central bearer is a universal steel beam supported on three ex-traffic light poles.
The four edge assemblies were fabricated in the yard. They were bolted together in situe
for ease of erection and then welded for extra stiffness.
What looks like a timber deck is the scaffold that we worked from.
