As you can see, the combination of the "notch" for the points, along with minor sharpening of the ends of the points, solves the problem of wheels picking the points on Kato Unitrack #4 N scale turnouts. The points do not have to be sharpened much at all - just enough is OK. Most of the fix is done by the notch in the adjoining stock rail. I no longer have any problems with derailment on my #4 Kato turnouts; the mainline takes the diverging route in the turnout shown.
