Your pictures are so peaceful and tell a great story in themselves. I used to live under the Black mountains in Wales, we used to go up them to have fun, your pics brought the memories flooding back, there is a freedom you can never feel any where else. I hope that in the future I will be able to come and see it for myself. Thankyou.

I was attracted to SW VA when I used to travel I-81 back in the 1990s. Then I moved to Roanoke in 1997 but unfortunately ended up back north. Probably my favorite area to drive through and take pictures is the I-77 corridor from Galax to Wytheville.

I was just looking around the web about a year ago down on base when i came accross your galleries, i guess i must have spent an hour just looking at all the photos of southwest va. Now everytime i get homesick i just click on your website and get lost inside one of your photos for a while. Im on my second tour in Iraq and it seems ive been away from home too long and all the reasons i left those mountains have now become the reasons i want to return. Thank you for the great website. Great photos! I lived in Whitetop until I graduated from Mt Rogers in 1992. Every summer when I visit I take pictures of Whitetop Mountain. I have a album full and when I get a little homesick I pull it out and look at it.Your photos are great!!!

I thoroughly enjoyed looking at all of your photos - they were all gorgeous and brought back many fond memories of visiting my grandparents in the S.W. Virgina town of Abingdon. I get so homesick for those times, and even though all the family from Abingdon has now passed on, I still love the memories. My grandparents lived on a dairy farm just out of town / off the Hillman Hwy., I believe was the name. I know we were not very far from Emory & Henry College, so it was nice to see your photos from there also. I was wondering if you were ever out near Hillman Hwy.,if you'd be able to take and post a photo of my grandparents old home place? As you are going out Hillman Hwy, about 1 - 1 1/2 miles, if you look to the left over the railroad track you can see their farm / farm house. If you go a little further, the road will continue straight to Emory & Henry or bear off to the left to go under the railroad's underpass to reach the (J.T.Hayter)farm. I'm not sure who the present owners are now, I know some doctor bought the land and built some "Monstrosity" on the hill on which we used to sleigh ride, but I'd sure love to have a photo of the farm or dairy barn or whatever as a background for my computer. If you are from "around Abingdon" you may know where I'm talking about. Thank you for you time, and for posting all your beautiful pictures for us to enjoy.

Hi, Mark I've got my casio QV3000Ex recently. I really like the photos you took. I am wandering if you adjust the parameters like contrast, sharpness, or saturate when you took these pictures? Is the tripod needed for taking these pictures?
