The Airborne Museum at 'Hartenstein' is located on the outskirts of Arnhem in The Netherlands http://en.airbornemuseum.nl/

'Hartenstein' was the headquarters of the British Airborne Division in September 1944. It's maybe not surprising then that the museum houses the world’s largest collection of Operation Market Garden memorabilia including lots of uniforms, medals, photographs, videos, guns and general war hardware.

The museum is modern and is very well laid out as it tells visitors the story of the ill-fated Operation Market Garden with some stunning displays and extremely moving accounts in words, video and pictures by those who were there.

If that wasn't moving enough, a visit to the underground 'Airborne Experience' will transport you right into the very midst of the battle. After exiting through a glider you pick your way through the exhibits and enter Arnhem where you are surrounded by gunfire, flashing lights and huge newsreels of the fighting. A truly memorable and frightening experience.
