A storm came through last night and we actually received some rain. That is very unusual for us this time of year. For us, it was a winter storm.

The storm put a bit of a damper on our butterfly walk this morning as it was not warm enough to encourage them to be out. The two we did see were brownish and on the ground. I don't know how anyone spotted them, but we had some keen spotters in the group.

Other than the lack of butterflies, the walk was wonderful with partially cloudy skies and nice temperatures for walking... not too hot, not too cold.

The blip is of a Lady Fingers Dudleya, [url http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dudleya_edulis][i]Dudleya edulis[/i][/url]. It is very particular about where it likes to grow. It likes well drained soil and can be found on cliff sides. This one is right on the edge of a cliff. We were on the North Ridge trail on the Reserve at Rancho Mission Viejo.
