Nutmeg Mannikins are also known as Scaly-breasted Munia and Spice Finches. They are from tropical Asia.

I like to think that the ones visiting my backyard are from Indonesia like myself, but have been here for many generations. They have adapted well to the area considering there are lots of juveniles around.

Note: there is a juvenile in the center of the picture just starting to get his/her scales.
