Today I attended the painting exhibition by William Sitting Bull (1), who painted from a blank canvas and completed the painting in 2 hours (2). During that time he spoke calmly, often humorously, and purposefully - a story teller indeed. He talked of his people's history, of his art, of his time as a child, his time as an architect. His spirit soars, and he's to be featured in the May-June art magazine "Wildlife Art". After his performance today, the painting was given away via raffle. He posed beside the new and rapidly completed painting. I've seen many of his other paintings. He's a highly talented artist, a well spoken diplomat, a gentle warrior giving the invaders' descendants much to ponder.
