My 2nd hike to Hidden Lake Overlook in Glacier National Park

Yesterday, September 13, wildfire smoke was absent from Logan Pass and nearby locales. Thus, vistas were splendid, air was safe to breathe. As often occurs along the Hidden Lake Trail, mountain goats were nearby, bighorn sheep not too distant. Special moments included sighting ptarmigans and - at a great distance - my first sighting of a wolverine in its natural habitat.

Islands of snow have melted away in the several weeks since a prior hike, and mountain goats along the trail were "in the shade" - even when that meant resting on a wooden pathway or on a groomed trail.

As I prepare this webpage (Sept 14), high density wildfire smoke engulfs and hazes the peaks that yesterday were so clear. Two cameras were used. A small Canon s70 and the larger Panasonic Lumix Fz50.
