On a lovely June 27th, 2008, Glacier National Park personnel and visitors celebrated the 75th anniversary of the Going to the Sun Highway. Among the attendees were elders who had been present at the opening ceremony in 1933. Blackfeet, Salish, and Kootenai participated, as did the Montana Governor, the state's two senators, and others. A beautiful day, tales of the old road and its construction were told. Tribes knew of the days when grizzlies, black bear, and wolves were the region's chiefs.
