Aperture Tests at Two Focal Lengths

In the first series of photos, each was with Fz50 on tripod. Four shots were taken at a wide focal length, at widest aperture the camera selected, then at 6.3, 8.0, and 11. Then the four apertures were repeated at a telephoto focal length. Each image was imported into CS2 and only minimal functions were enacted: convert to sRGB, convert to 4x6 at 72 dpi. No image quality manipulations were enacted. The last series further cropped to 4x1.5.

Rosehips and Old truck:
An additional series of aperture tests follows in rows after the yellow signs. The image of the campground lanes is added just to keep the rows in sets of 4. The next shot was hand-held at large aperture. The next 12 images compare large and small (f11) aperture settings, all mounted on a tripod, Fz50 set to IS-2 because of direct pressing of shutter button.

Mountain trees.
An additional series of photos explores large apertures vs f11 apertures. Fast-H focus was used on each shot. A primary aspect of this series is the examination of trees image-quality when shot at a great distance, with aperture differences and corresponding shutter-speed distances potentially affecting image-quality of the trees.

Road signs at focus and closer to camera.
In one series, a blue road sign was the focus in each of the two primary photos. The scene was shot at f3.2 and f8. At f3.2, the cropped blue sign is clearer. At f8, the green Lake Five sign's printing is somewhat clearer. My preliminary interpretations is that at f8, the green sign finally was within the range of focus, which was not the case for the green sign during the f3.2 foto. The blurriness arises from the extreme cropping around the signs.
