Hue was the ancient capital of Vietnam. Based in the Citadel, the Emperor ruled the country.

If you have time for only site in Hue, spend half a day at the Citadel. Although many buildings were destroyed during the war, some are slowly being restored to their former glory. We never expected until this trip how much pomp and splendor the Vietnamese royalty enjoyed.
