Takao is a low mountain area northwest of Kyoto station. It is one of the most beautiful trekking destinations in Kyoto in autumn. There are also a number of temples in the area, the largest (at the top of the low mountain), being called Jingo-ji. We had to climb what looked like a thousand stone steps to get there. Along the way there are a number of al-fresco restaurants.
