We had spotted this lake and the hidden valley at the inaccessible end on a previous trek through Suin / Shadi and on a subsequent trek came equipped with a small inflatable boat, a plastic kids' toy really, in order to get to the valley at the opposite end of the lake; only accessible by water. We had seen an extensive willow forest in this valley and were curious to have a look. My friend and I paddled 1 1/2 kms to a sandy beach and spent a night near the lake. There were countless hoof prints of wild goat, ibex, nabu, and on the wet sand beach clear pug marks of what could only have belonged to a snow leopard. The local people walk across the lake in winter to collect wood from the extensive willow forest within the hidden valley.
