Messier 27 (M27; NGC 6853): Dumbbell Nebula: UPDATED

Imaged from Beckwith Township

The Dumbbell Nebula is a planetary nebula in the constellation Vulpecula, at a distance of about 1,360 light-years.
Messier 27 is the second brightest planetary nebula in the sky.

Planetary nebulae are the remains of stars similar to our Sun. When they reach the end of their life cycle as evolved red giants, they expel their outer gaseous layers to form the nebula, which is then heated by the hot core of the central white dwarf. This will be the fate of our Sun in roughly five billion years.

The second image below was taken about 10 days after the first.
Total integration on the second image was 36 minutes (it was about 10 minutes on the first); and guiding was used on the second. Four minute subs were used in the second whereas only 1 minute subs were used in the first.
The result is a much more detailed image; greater visible nebulosity; and lower noise in the second image.
