Pensacola NAS
Pensacola, Florida
The navy version of the DC-9, this particular aircraft was flown by Navy Transport Squadron VR46; and is historically significant in that it was one of the first aircraft to fly into NYC following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the WTC.
Note: Many of the aircraft sitting on the ramp outside the restoration hanger complex at Pensacola are in very "weathered" shape...or worse. In time; all will be restored to factory fresh (perhaps not flyable, but certainly cosmetically) condition; and wearing the appropriate markings and paint appropriate for their operational service time period.
