We took a day trip to Al-Ain, it was nice to get out of Dubai and see camels beside the road in the desert. However, the actual town of Al-Ain I found to be disappointing in the short time I was there. Perhaps the Hilton or the overnight desert safari would have give me a better experience, as the book recommends. We did drive through the Al-Ain Oasis which was quiet nice, very cool and shady. I definitely could appreciate the what it would have been like traveling in the desert for days on camel and arriving here- it would have been paradise.
