The first cathedral. The ruined walls of the great cathedral church that once stood in the outer bailey of the royal castle. A cathedral was first built here in 1075-92. Five days after it was consecrated it was damaged in a storm and had to be repaired. The cathedral was rebuilt on a much larger scale by Bishop Roger in about 1203. Beside it was a cloistered garden. By 1250 both the cathedral and palac e hed been demolished leaving only the foundations.
