Winchester Cathedral - Medieval wall paintings in the Chapel of the holy Sepulchre - 12th c wall paintings showing the Deposition and Entombment of Christ. Above them is the early 13th c figure of Christ in Majesty. These paintings suddenly started to appear in 1968. This mural over the altar shows Jesus being laid in his tomb, a soldier in chain mail and the Golden domed Mosque both of which are historically incorrect. This original mural was overlaid by a new mural which was commissioned to correct these mistakes, but introduced it's own historical inconsistencies. The overlaid mural was removed and reconstructed on the wall opposite in the Chapel.
