we have fought a great deal about this fig tree
I love fresh figs & was jealous of a friend who had a grand one in South Philadelphia that managed to have heavy production despite getting severely beaten every winter
I purchased this one about 10 years ago when I lived in a townhouse & it spent about 5 years in a huge clay pot ...very little production of figs
when I moved to a home with some ground in it went, but production from it has been disappointing
birds love the tree and this year we had a bumper crop ...easily 50 fruits and very good eating indeed
the birds got about 1/2 despite our silly efforts to discourage them with a net
next year we put up a more secure enclosure
