I believe this sweet harbinger of spring visited us via some organic mulch I had used some years ago ...native to the Gulf Coast, this small plain orchid is viewed as a weed by some ...its straight up growth pattern has given it the common name of "Soldier's Orchid"
we were worried that this delicate and unassuming flower got uprooted as a weed, but almost a year to the day that first I photographed it, this sweet little plant has made an encore
we will be more careful with it
