The idea here is to compare macro performance.
On the Olympus it is of course neccessary to use tele end of the lens for maximum magnification, where as on the S95 you have to use the wide angle lens.
This results in an f/5.6 aperture at tele end for the E-PL3 and an f/2.0 aperture at the wide angle end for the S95.

In practical use, when shooting close ups in available light, the results are as can be seen in the photo.
The E-PL3 with the kit lens will need to raise ISO quite a lot in comparison to the S95.
Here ISO 3200 for the E-PL3 and ISO 500 for the S95.
The difference in image quality to S95's benenefit is obvious.
