Wellington was our starting place. After a couple of days on the north island we set off across the Marlborough sound to the south island. First night Kaikoura. This is one magical place and to see the wild seals cavorting on the rocks and in the water amazing.We finished at another beautiful place near Christchurch. Akaroa on the Banks Peninsula. We drove up a high mountain and looked down upon this French Style town and just wished we could stay in New Zealand for much longer.
Queenstown and Arrowtown are both beautiful with lots of fun around the lake
Doubtful Sound
this was the most magic experience of our whole wonderful two weeks in New Zealand.
The trip taken with Real Journeys took us across a lake by fast boat then a short bus ride down into the sound. Hard to describe the feeling of being the only ship in this vast area of wilderness.On the way back the ship stopped for 5 minutes silence and that was when the small dolphins appeared.The camera can not do justice to the wonderful water reflections.
