The Reunification Palace, formerly home to the South Vietnamese presidents, now a museum and cultural center. Hearing about the war from the Vietnamese side is a bit strange, although our guide had family (he was born after the war) who worked for the Americans, so he tries to balance the story, straying from the official line.

On April 30, 1975, a Viet Cong tank burst through the gates. The war was over. This tank is the same model; the actual tank is in Hanoi.

The streets are lined with little shops, many Vietnamese run their own businesses, and live above their shops.

Motor scooters abound, about one scooter for every two people in HCMC. Almost anything can be carried on a scooter!
