After traveling for almost 24 hours (with plane changes at JFK and Shannon) we are finally on approach to Heathrow!

Hyde Park
After settling in at the hotel, we cross the road and talk a walk in Hyde Park.
27-MAY-2013
Berkeley Square
It’s a beautiful day, so we decide to do a walking tour to see what has changed. The Mayfair District is amazingly quiet. Only a couple of people in Berkeley Square.

Buckingham Palace
It’s not nearly so quiet when we get to Green Park. It turns out today is a bank holiday, and they’re running a 10K race today. Green Park is the assembly area for the runners, so we have to go around. We decide to continue into St James Park and wait for another day the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace. The whole area is extremely crowded.

St James Park
Still, it's a lovely day in the park.

North Entrance, Westminster Abbey
Another detour to miss the runners brings us to Westminster Abbey. A long line of people here, too! Since we’ve been here before, we also put it on hold.
27-MAY-2013
Victoria Tower Garden
That doesn’t mean we can’t walk around the outside, around Parliament, and through Victoria Tower Garden.
27-MAY-2013
London Eye
We cross Lambeth Bridge, nice views along the Thames.

London Eye
The London Eye area is just as crowded, so we go back across the Thames on Hungerford Bridge and go find lunch. Then we wander back to the hotel for a break and a snack. We should have time later on in the week for this, too.
