I think this was my favorite day of the whole trip, even though we didn't get off of the ship at all. We had originally been slated to float down Tracy Arm to see the North Sawyer glacier, but our ship's captain received a report that the visibility was bad, and decided instead to take us down nearby Endicott Arm, to see what I'm pretty sure was the South Sawyer glacier. It turned out to be a really good decision. We floated at least a couple of hours down a very narrow channel in the mountains. All the while the mountains to either side, I'm guessing ranging from maybe 500 to 2000 feet, had their tops covered in fog, and we sailed past calved chunks of glaciers the entire way. It was really a dream-like experience. I felt like I had never been anywhere as remote in my entire life, and yet the comfort and luxury of the ship created a very odd juxtaposition. The water was the stillest I've ever seen just about anywhere, and we even got to witness a sizable chunk of the glacier "calving" off as it reached the water. Check out the pictures!
