This car, Chassis No 911 460 9094, was originally sold to the famous music orchestra conductor Herbert von Karajan from Austria and the original invoice date is 01.03.1974 made out to AMAG (Porsche Importer) in Switzerland.
The car was sold through Garage Mathis in St. Moritz, Switzerland on the 21. 03.1974. After one year he sold his Carrera RS 3,0 to Jean Claude Bering, a Swiss racing driver.
At that time he actively and successfully raced the car in the European Hill Climb Championship and won the European Title for the Production GT3 Class in 1975 and 1976. Bering raced le Mans with another RS in 1975 but used the engine from 9094 during that race, his car being kept as a reserve car for the 24h race.
During the 1976 season Jean Claude Bering had an accident at the French Mont Dore Hill climb with the Carrera RS 3,0. and damaged the car. He later sold it in 1976 to another race driver who then rebuilt the damaged body using parts and/or body from the latest 911 Turbo carrosserie. Finally Bering bought it back for the 1978 season.
Bering bought back again 9094 and raced it again in 1979 in UFO Jeans Livery. he sold then the car to Rolf GORING. Later the car went to 2 other owners before it was sent to Japan, joining the famous Matsuda collection. In 2006 an Italian collector M.Simone CERUTI, reimported the car in Europe.
Today the car is in stunning conditions. Always maintained to the higher standard by renown Swiss specialist Marc de Siebenthal, the current owner did 5 Tour Auto and many other major historic races with great success. The owner eventually playing with other similar toys he decided to give this car all the attention it deserved. Marc de Siebenthal was again commissioned to start a comprehensive and painstaking restoration with no expense or hours saved to put the car back to its 1975 glory.
Subsequently to Marc “chef d’oeuvre” the car won 2 Class wins in Concourse including the prestigious Chantilly Art & Elegance.

The accident was in 1976 with Bering.
Do you know who had the car after the accident from late 76 - 88 , and who repaired it & where ? In a write-up from a seller a few yrs. ago ....they stated Rolf Goring owned it at one point. Is this fact & it sat damaged until 1988 ? With Goring...?
The same seller also stated "matching numbers" (I would think this refered to the motor & trans).
If it was owned by any Porsche racer from 1977 - 88 .....I find it hard to fathom that parts would not have been robbed to use on another car during that time (like motor and/or trans for instance).
