Michelle, Chazzy and I decided to head into the Daniel Boone National Forest to see what warblers might have shown up over the past few days. We were not disappointed. We found four species of warbler that included Pine, Yellow-throated, Black-and-white, and LA Waterthrush. Other migrants included Blue-headed Vireo and Eastern Phoebe. Butterflies were everywhere and we found several species that included Zebra, Tiger, and Pipevine Swallowtails. We also found several species of wildflowers. After dinner, Michelle and I headed back down to Owsley Fork Reservoir to look for the Surf Scoters reported by Jeff Sole. I managed a couple of long distance shots in the fading light. Overall, a great day of birding.
