Christopher Stiltner Cemetery - December 5, 2006

On a beautiful December 5th afternoon, my Dad and I hiked up Bull Creek to the old Christopher Stiltner cemetery and homesite. Christopher was a veteran of Company F of the 21st Virginia Infantry Battalion, CSA during the Civil War. His wife, Mary Ann Whitaker Stiltner, is the only other grave in this small cemetery.

my name is christopher stiltner. My daughter came across this webpage and I find it interging and would like more info on this grave site. My dads side of the family is from grudy Va.. I have relatives on the looney and stiltner side from down there if i could get more info would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks Mr. Talbott for putting this on the internet. Christopher stiltner was my GG grandfather Mathew's brother. I don't have a clue to where Matthew is buried. Thanks again. susan Stiltner akers Nabil

I grew up on Harman and used to ginseng the surrounding hills frequently. Imagine my surprise when around 1979 I stumbled upon my name on an ancient grave. The site had not been kept up and was likely forgotten. I questioned my grandfather about it, but he knew nothing of the grave. I mentioned something of the site to a gentleman from Maryland a few years ago, a Stiltner decendent, and he made the trip and found the site from my description. The grave has probably been on registers for a long time, but it is neat to see pictures of it on the web. Thank you, Mr. Talbott for the pictures and history of my great x 5 grandfather.

Good Day Mr Talbott, Got the info on the Christopher Columbus Stiltner graves from my friend Andy in IN. Never knew there was a graves there. Often wanted to look over old tipple but "afraid" of the trespassing charges. lol If I have yours or someone elses permission will look this over when it warms up. I live at Harman Junction and my Dad Floyd Looney may have worked with your dad or grandfather at the old Panther coal co. at Roseann, VA
