Sparrow Day - November 3, 2007

Members of the Buchanan County Bird Club enjoyed the fifth annual BCBC Sparrow Day on Saturday at Guesses Fork near Hurley. It was a frosty morning but the afternoon turned out to be a gorgeous fall day. A late spring frost and the drought reduced the numbers of birds but we still located White-crowned, White-throated, Savannah, Swamp, Song, and Fox Sparrows. We also found Juncos and Towhees along the way. Good food was enjoyed by all as the club members grilled hotdogs and enjoyed many desserts. Overall, a great day to be birding the mountaintops of Buchanan County.

Ed and Michelle, plus a camera ,add a scenic site and the great outdoors, couple all these with good friends, feathered friends and good food and one has pictures of heaven on earth. Thanks.

Ed, Great shots. Mary and I enjoyed the day on the mountain. Mccoy cabin is outstanding. Wonderful workmanship being made there. On our way home last night, 11-4-07 just 100 yrds. west of Looney Creek, around 6 pm. a Great Horned Owl flew across 460 a few yards infront of our truck. The bird was heading toward the river. Had a good view for just a moment. Have a good day!
